Hospital Bills and Insurance
What you need to know about your hospital bills, insurance considerations and how the financial counselors at Citizens Memorial Hospital can help.
Billing and Payments
We understand that hospital billing can be confusing, and we hope the following information is helpful to you. There may be some delay in receiving your first bill from the hospital. That’s because your insurance company will be billed first, and they will determine their portion of the bill. The first bill you receive will show the remaining balance, which is your responsibility.
Multiple Bills
You may expect to receive a single bill for your hospitalization, but this is often not the case. If you have certain tests or treatments in the hospital, you may receive bills from physicians you did not see in person. These bills are for professional services rendered by these physicians in diagnosing and interpreting test results while you were a patient. Pathologists, radiologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists and other specialists perform these services and are required to submit separate bills. If you have questions about these bills, please call the number printed on the statement you receive from them.
Insurance Considerations
It is important to know the requirements of your insurance plan, as you are responsible for ensuring that the requirements are met before receiving services.
Please provide a copy of your insurance identification card so that CMH can file a claim with your insurer.
Co-payments are due at the time of service.
Accidents & Work-related Injuries
If your hospitalization was the result of an accident or work-related injury, please be sure to inform us. We will work with insurers and/or employers on your behalf, but must have complete and accurate information to initiate those claims.
Discounts and Payment Arrangements
We offer a 15% discount for payments made before discharge, excluding copays. We accept VISA, Mastercard and Discover.
We understand that hospitalizations are often unplanned and sometimes result in financial obligations for which you were not prepared. If you need to make arrangements or have billing-related questions, please contact us. Our representatives are available to assist you.
