Michael Calhoun named to Becker’s 2026 ‘Community hospital CEOs to know’ list
Michael Calhoun, CEO/executive director of Citizens Memorial Hospital and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2026 list of “Community hospital CEOs to know.”
Becker’s recognized community hospital presidents and CEOs for their commitment to the communities they serve and their work to expand access to care, strengthen their organizations and plan for the future of health care in their communities.
Calhoun has served as CEO/executive director of CMH since Jan. 1, 2022, and has worked at CMH for 30 years. During his career with CMH, he has held a variety of leadership positions, including administrative director of clinics and chief operating officer.
Under Calhoun’s leadership as CEO, CMH has continued to invest in facilities, services and its workforce to meet the changing health care needs of southwest Missouri. Recent investments include the $100 million expansion and renovation of Citizens Memorial Hospital and the addition of nephrology and dialysis services in Bolivar.
A native of Halfway, Missouri, Calhoun holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Southwest Baptist University. He is the third CEO to lead CMH since the hospital opened in 1982.
