CMH earns Missouri Silver Level Workplace Wellness Award

Citizens Memorial Hospital and the Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation received the Missouri Silver Level Workplace Wellness Award.

“Employee health is a priority at CMH and an important part of our benefits package,” said Michael Calhoun, CEO/executive director of CMH and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation. “We offer a variety of activities to help our employees improve their physical and mental health, such as health screenings, in-person coaching, tobacco cessation programs, nutrition coaching, walking groups and stress management workshops. We also offer financial education workshops to help our employees make the most of their money.”

Another way employees benefit from participating in CMH’s wellness program is by saving money on insurance premiums and reducing out-of-pocket medical costs.

“Employees who meet the wellness program requirements each quarter receive discounted health insurance premiums,” said Calhoun. “While meeting activity goals, employees are likely to feel better, have more energy and experience less stress. In the long run, these preventative health measures contribute to a healthier and more positive environment for everyone.”

The award program is a collaboration between the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), the Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition (MOCAN) and the University of Missouri Extension. The program recognizes employers with policies supportive of employee health and wellness.

Missouri Workplace Wellness Award recipients represent a wide range of employment sectors, settings and worksite sizes. To receive the award, an employer must submit an application to the University of Missouri Extension.
