Citizens Memorial Hospital maintains an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

Grade for fall 2024 is a national recognition for patient safety

Citizens Memorial Hospital maintained an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog, with the release of the fall grades. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

CMH first received an “A” grade in the spring. Leapfrog updates the safety grades twice yearly.

"Maintaining the Leapfrog 'A' Safety Grade shows our team's ongoing commitment to putting our patients first as we work to meet the highest standards in healthcare," said Michael Calhoun, CEO/executive director of CMH/CMH Foundation. "The Leapfrog safety standards align with CMH's vision of being the safest place for patients to receive care."

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Citizens Memorial Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to CMH, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
