Emily Christian, RN, received the October 2024 CMH DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is a registered nurse with Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Christian was nominated for the award by the daughters of a patient, who shared heartfelt stories of her exceptional care and dedication.
One daughter wrote, “She went above and beyond taking care of my mom. Stayed over three hours past her shift just to make sure mom was stable. Showed so much compassion and heart towards us. Met every need we had and always answered any questions we had. I felt like she took care of Mom as if she were her own.”
The second daughter remarked, “Emily was a lovely girl in high school and has become an awesome nurse in adulthood. I believe some people are born to serve, and she does go above and beyond. … Thank you so very much!”
DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an auto-immune disease. The international award thanks nurses everywhere.
CMH started the DAISY Award program in January 2019. A CMH or Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation nurse receives the award each month.
