Dr. Simanis finishes wilderness medicine ‘Triple Crown’

Juris Simanis, M.D., CAQSM, RMSK, FAAFP, MPH, MsPH, DiMM, FAWM, DiDMM was recently recognized for achieving the “Triple Crown” in wilderness medicine from the Wilderness Medical Society. He is one of the first five physicians in the world to complete all three programs.

Dr. Simanis earned the Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) in 2018. He finished the Diploma in Diving & Marine Medicine (DiDMM) and Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWN) in 2023.

The certifications represent his training in the essentials of caring for patients in the technical mountain environment and marine environment. The Fellowship recognizes his demonstration of the advanced practice of wilderness medicine through experience, teaching, scholarly activity and leadership.

Dr. Simanis specializes in sports medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in family medicine and sports medicine and is certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound medicine. He sees patients at the CMH Primary Care, Sports & Occupational Medicine Clinic, located inside the Douglas Medical Center, 1155 W. Parkview St., Suite 2D., in Bolivar.
