CMH welcomes first baby born in the new Birth Place
Souline May Pierce is the first baby born at Citizens Memorial Hospital in the new Birth Place location in the patient tower.
Souline was born at 8 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, to Sabrina Pierce of Springfield. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. Her grandparents are Christopher and Crystal Pierce, also of Springfield.
Sarah Kallberg, D.O., with the CMH OB/GYN Clinic, delivered Souline.
“We’re so excited to welcome and celebrate precious little Souline as the first baby born in the new Birth Place,” said Joannah Albright, RNC-OB, Birth Place director.
The Birth Place moved to the new location on the third floor of the patient tower on Sunday, April 19. The new facility features rooms that are 43% larger, expanding space for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. The unit also includes an in-unit cesarean section suite, a dedicated triage room and enhanced security features.
“The move to the new facility went very smoothly,” Albright said. “We had so much help with moving everything. The new space is amazing.”
