CMH Lunch and Learn to focus on varicose veins
Citizens Memorial Hospital will host a free Lunch and Learn seminar about varicose veins from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in CMH Community Rooms 1 and 2.
Board-certified surgeon Rachel Pruett, M.D., with CMH General Surgery Clinic, will discuss varicose vein disorders, chronic venous insufficiency, potential complications and available treatment options.
According to the Society for Vascular Surgery, as many as 40 million Americans have varicose veins. The enlarged, twisted veins commonly develop in the legs and may cause pain, swelling, aching or a feeling of heaviness.
Risk factors include family history, pregnancy, obesity and spending long periods standing or sitting. In some cases, varicose veins can lead to complications such as skin changes, leg ulcers or blood clots. Treatment depends on a person’s symptoms and condition and may include lifestyle changes, compression therapy or medical procedures.
A light lunch will be served, and reservations are requested. The seminar will be held at Citizens Memorial Hospital, 1500 N. Oakland Ave., Bolivar. Learn more or register online.
