Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility resident wins statewide pageant
CMH long-term care facilities and leaders recognized at MHCA Annual Convention
Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility resident Lavern Fry was crowned queen of the Missouri Health Care Association Legacy Pageant during the organization’s annual convention Aug. 23-26 in Branson. CMH long-term care facilities also received awards, while several administrators were recognized for their involvement in state and national leadership.

Fry was crowned queen Aug. 23 during the opening day of the MHCA Annual Convention.
The pageant highlights the life stories and experiences of residents in long-term care facilities across Missouri. The competition begins at the regional level, where residents have an opportunity to share the experiences that have shaped their lives. A panel of judges selects a winner based primarily on each contestant’s interaction and engagement with the audience.
“Fry represented Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility with grace and class,” said Jennifer Weinstein, activities director at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility. “She earned this honor and will wear her crown proudly.”
Fry said the support she found at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility helped her through recent personal losses.
“I have been able to make it through thanks to God, family and friends at Lake Stockton,” she said.
Facility Involvement Contest winners
MHCA also hosts a Facility Involvement Contest in which activity directors showcase residents’ activities from the past year in a newspaper format. The contest includes color and black-and-white categories.
Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar won first place in the color category and Colonial Springs Healthcare Center in Buffalo won second place.
“It is an honor for these facilities to be recognized for the hard work and dedication they exhibit each day to make their facilities feel like home for every resident,” said Tim Francka, administrative director of long-term care at CMH.
MHCA leadership
CMH long-term care administrators continue to serve in leadership roles at the state and national levels.
Chris McBratney, Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility administrator, completed his term as MHCA president and will serve on the Executive Committee for the next two years as immediate past president.
Roy Pace, administrator of Colonial Springs Healthcare Center, was re-elected as a member at large on the MHCA Board of Directors.
Francka was re-elected as Missouri’s delegate to the American Health Care Association Council of States. The executive-level position on the MHCA Board makes him the official voting representative for all skilled nursing facilities in Missouri.
