New financial counselors at CMH help patients navigate medical expenses

Citizens Memorial Hospital’s new Financial Counselor team helps reduce stress for patients as they navigate health insurance and financial assistance options.

The team helps patients with:

  • Understanding their insurance benefits and what costs they may owe.
  • Discounts available for self-pay patients.
  • Screening for Medicaid eligibility and help with the application process.
  • Financial assistance for hospital and specialist visits.
  • Rural Health Sliding Fee program for rural health and primary care physician visits for self-pay patients only.
  • Payment plan options, including short-term in-house options and longer-term plans through partner ClearBalance.
  • Marketplace health plan enrollment.

“Our financial counselors give patients someone they can turn to for answers and support,” said Jolene Warren, director of revenue cycle. “They guide patients through their options, explain the financial side of care and connect them with resources that can ease stress and make the process feel more manageable.”

Contact the financial counselors at 417-328-7354, 417-328-7355 or financial.counselor@citizensmemorial.com. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
