New procedure now available at CMH Urology Surgical Clinic

Citizens Memorial Hospital is expanding its urology care with the addition of Aquablation® therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This new service expands CMH’s commitment to delivering state-of-the-art care for men’s health in the region.

BPH, or enlarged prostate, is the most common prostate issue in men over age 50, often causing frequent urination, weak stream, urgency or incomplete bladder emptying. CMH is now among the first in the area to offer Aquablation therapy, a minimally invasive treatment that uses a robotically controlled waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue without heat. The therapy is performed using the HYDROS Robotic System.

“Aquablation therapy brings significant benefits to our patients,” said Mark Walterskirchen, M.D., board certified urologist at CMH. “The new procedure allows us to treat BPH with precision while preserving quality of life.”

CMH Urology Surgical Clinic is in the CMH Douglas Medical Center, 1155 W. Parkview St., Bolivar, Suite 2C. For more information, call 417-326-2550.
