CEO Update: Nurse practitioners extend the reach of physicians

Nurse practitioners are important to Citizens Memorial because they provide high-quality, compassionate care for the patients we serve.

A nurse practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who provides medical care in collaboration with a physician. Nurse practitioners diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions and manage a patient’s overall care.

Nurse practitioners provide care throughout CMH’s system, including the emergency room, hospital in-patient care, family medicine clinics, walk-in clinics, medical specialty clinics and long-term care facilities.

They work in collaboration with physicians at all these locations. Nurse practitioners play a vital role as a part of the health care team and extend the reach of our physicians. They provide great care for our patients.
