Colonial Springs to host healthcare decisions event

Community members will have an opportunity to complete advance care planning during a healthcare decisions event Thursday, April 14, hosted by Colonial Springs Healthcare Center.

The free outdoor event will be held 1-6 p.m. at 750 W. Cooper St., Buffalo, and is being held in preparation for National Healthcare Decisions Day. No appointment is required.

Advance care planning involves starting conversations about care wishes and documenting end of life planning should you become too sick or unable to make your wishes known in the future.

Colonial Springs staff will be on hand to answer questions and to provide assistance with completing advance health care directives and medical power of attorney paperwork. Advance health care directive books will be provided and the facility will have witnesses and notaries available at no charge.

National Healthcare Decisions Day is an initiative by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s The Conversation Project, which exists to inspire, educate and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.

In case of inclement weather, the date of the event may be changed. Stay informed by following the Colonial Springs Healthcare Center Facebook page for updates or contact the facility at 417-345-2228 for more information.
