Butterfield, CMHCF and Parkview to host healthcare decisions event

Community members will have an opportunity to complete advance care planning during a healthcare decisions event Friday, May 6, hosted by Butterfield Residential Care Center, Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility and Parkview Health Care Facility.

The free outdoor event will be held 1-6 p.m. at Parkview Health Care Facility, 119 W. Forest St., in Bolivar. No appointment is required.

Advance care planning involves starting conversations about care wishes and documenting end of life planning should you become too sick or unable to make your wishes known in the future.

CMHCF and Parkview staff will be on hand to answer questions and to provide assistance with completing advance health care directives and medical power of attorney paperwork. Advance health care directive books will be provided and the facility will have witnesses and notaries available at no charge.

The event is being held in support of National Healthcare Decisions Day, an initiative by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s The Conversation Project, which exists to inspire, educate and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.

In case of inclement weather, the date of the event may be changed. Stay informed by following Butterfield, CMHCF and Parkview Facebook pages for updates or contact Parkview Health Care Facility at 417-326-3000 for more information.
