Billie Baldwin named March 2022 CMH TULIP Award winner
Billie Baldwin, a medical assistant at Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Center in Bolivar, was named the March 2022 CMH TULIP Award winner.
The TULIP Award was established June 2021 by CMH and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation and is a recognition program for outstanding nursing assistants, medical assistants and patient care technicians who assist in direct patient care.
Baldwin received her CNA license in 1989 while working at Bolivar Nursing Home (now Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility), and she graduated from Bolivar Technical College’s medical assistant program in 2015.
Baldwin has worked at CMH for 34 years. She has worked in numerous departments at CMH but most recently in the rheumatology clinic for the last 11 years.
She was nominated for the TULIP Award by a patient for her positive attitude and for providing compassionate care to each patient.
“She is always so cheerful, and pleasant even when she was having knee trouble and was in a brace and when her husband had a heart attack she was so loving and caring,” the nomination stated. “You would have never known she was stressed or tired.”
Baldwin said she was “happily surprised” to receive this award and enjoys working with the staff and doctors at the Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Center. “They are so gracious and kind,” Baldwin said. “No one cares about their patients as much as they do.”
Baldwin says her co-workers and patients keep her at CMH. “I really don’t think about retirement because I love the patients so much,” she said. “I’m very proud to be employed by this organization, but I work for the patients, and this organization allows me to do that, and that matters to me.”
