Citizens Memorial Hospital earns “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Spring 2026 safety grade recognizes commitment to patient safety
Citizens Memorial Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit focused on patient safety.
Leapfrog assigns letter grades of “A” through “F” to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety, including errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
This is not the first time CMH has achieved an “A” grade. The hospital also received top marks in spring and fall 2024.
“This recognition reflects the commitment of our physicians and staff to provide safe, high-quality care every day,” said Michael Calhoun, CEO and executive director of Citizens Memorial Hospital and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation. “Patient safety is at the center of everything we do. We continue to strengthen our processes, invest in our teams and ensure our patients receive the best possible care.”
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that CMH is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries, which claim more than 500 lives each day in the United States. The program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice each year, in the fall and spring.
