Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation’s inaugural Soirée set for Sept. 28

The Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation Soirée, generously presented by SGC Foodservice, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the farm of Tim and Nancy Erickson in Bolivar.

This year's Soirée will benefit The Birth Place at Citizens Memorial Hospital. The event includes a fine dining experience by Chef Curtis Adams, sunset carriage rides, musical entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a live performance by artist Mike Debus.

“We are honored to host this elegant evening that symbolizes the goodness and generosity of our community,” said Nancy Erickson. “Tim and I wholeheartedly believe in the mission and vision of Citizens Memorial Hospital. The Soirée brings our community together to support the hospital’s programs, services and capital equipment needs. We’re grateful to be part of this special inaugural fundraiser that will impact Birth Place families for generations to come.”

In celebration of the event's fundraising focus, the Foundation selected Steve and Dr. Shelly Meents as honorary chairs for the 2024 event. Dr. Meents has practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Citizens Memorial for nearly 20 years. The Meents were selected for their years of dedication, involvement and service to The Birth Place families and the community.

“We are honored that Steve and Shelly have agreed to serve as the honorary chairs for this event. The Meentses believe in the importance of service and giving back to the community. We are grateful for their tremendous heart and passion for improving the lives of women and newborns in the CMH service area,” said Michael Calhoun, CEO/Executive Director of CMH and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation.

The Soirée Planning Committee includes Jerald Andrews, Trina Banner, Dr. Shannon Calvert, Eran Dawson, Jennifer Denney, Tim Erickson, Nancy Erickson, Wren Hall, Randy Herion, Maria Kallenbach, Lisa Lehman, Steve Meents, Dr. Shelly Meents, and Corey Rich.

About the CMH Birth Place

The Citizens Memorial Hospital's obstetrics wing is designed specifically for the health, comfort and safety of mothers and their babies. State-of-the-art facilities and supportive staff make the birth of each baby a joyous moment and a memorable 5-star experience. The Birth Place offers expectant mothers a comfortable, caring environment in which to deliver their babies.

The Birth Place has six private birthing suites that allow expectant mothers to receive all of their services (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum) in one room in a private, relaxed environment with family for support. The nursery, located across from the birthing suites, offers new mothers the opportunity to rest after delivery if needed.

In spring 2026, The Birth Place will move to the third floor of the new hospital expansion.
